Triund is a serene and alluring trekking destination. It is situated in lap of Dhauladhar Range. It is 18 KMs from Dharamshala. After breakfast we meet up at the start point which is Bhagsu nag Taxi stand. From here we start our trek to Triund. We cross the local Tibetan Market, then the ancient temple name Bhagsu nag temple to reach the famous waterfall. It takes roughly 20 to 25 mins to reach the waterfall where we stop to click some pics and one can also enjoy some hot breakfast like eggs and bread or hot spicy Maggie with cup of tea. Then we cross the waterfall and start our steep climb for Triund. The guide will keep you entertained by telling stories about the place to ensure that you enjoy the walk and not get bored. The beautiful natural trail will keep you on your toes and walking on these trails will hold your interest throughout the tour. On reaching the campsite you can leave your bags off and feel more relaxed and trek further to get panoramic views of Shivalik Hills and plains of Kangra Valley. Further we trek to Triund via Katrani Dhar and you will feel glued to the spectacular beauty around you. Spend some time here in Triund capture the nature in your clicks and later trek back to Leta camps. Enjoy dinner near the bonfire with some soothing music. Spend night under the star studded night while enjoying the warmth of bonfire. Overnight stay at camps.

After breakfast at Camp we take a same route on the way back to Bhagsu. The trek route is exhilarating and super thrilling. The amazing panoramic view from the top at different times of the day highlights the unique charming beauty. It is downhill walk for three to four hours to Bhagsu Nag. En-route we come across Bhagsu waterfall and Shiva Café where you can spend some time before reaching Bhagsu Temple. Trek Ends at Bhagsu Nag.

FAQs

How do I get to Dharamsala?
To get from Dharamsala the easiest route is to follow directions from Delhi. You can also get there on overnight buses from Manali, Amritsar, and Shimla. McLeod Ganj is located approximately 10 kilometers away from Dharamsala and is accessible by frequent buses and taxis.
Clothes Required for trek ?
Cotton shirts, T- shorts, jeans, etc. for day use. Socks and underwear 4/5 that can be easily washed and dried on daily basis. Trekking suits, light sweater, a wind proof jacket or lightly padded jacket, down jacket umbrella, sun hat, waterproof gear, etc.
What is the weather & temperature like?
Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult and hard to predict. Of course, it is generally cold at night, and in winter, the days can be quite beautiful if the sun is out. There can be snow or rain storms any time of the year. Trekking in spring (March – April) is particularly lovely and beautiful as the rhododendrons are in full bloom. The mountains still have plenty of high snow to snap your photos. You need to be aware that it can get pretty hot and sunstroke can be a risk. Good polarizing sunglasses or glacier glasses (not trendy fashion ones) for high altitudes/winter treks, and a large brimmed hat are a necessity. It is also important to make sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any conditions. Expect the unexpected! Between 1000m and 3500m the temperature could be as high as 20 deg C to 5 deg C low. At higher altitude, the temperature ranges from 20 deg C to -10 deg C. During winter it is around 10 deg colder.

What type of trek is Triund?
It is easy to moderate trek
Can it be done any time of the year?
Best months are April to mid June and September to November.
How long is the Triund trek?
It is 9 Km from Mcleodganj and 6 km from Galu temple.
Can Triund trek be done in winters?
Yes it can be done in winters with proper sturdy boots and proper gear like dry fit clothes, wind proof jacket, trek poles etc.
Is there any restrictions for Triund trek?
Yes, camping is closed on Triund top from last year and half and if we are going thru Galu temple make sure to cross the check post before 11:30 am.
Can we do Triund trek without a guide.
Yes its possible to do a trek without a guide but its always advisable to be with an experience guide who can assist you at every step.
Do we have shops enroute to Triund trek?
Yes we have few cafes on way to Triund which serves hot food like Maggie , bread eggs, tea, coffee etc.
Do we find snow in Triund now?
It totally depends on the weather, normally we find snow during end of Jan and Feb.
Is trekking allowed in Jan and Feb?
Yes with proper gear you can trek in these months too.
What to carry on the trek?
Carry minimum weight, carry chocolates , dry fruits, candies and water to keep you hydrated.
Do we have toilet available enroute or at campsite?
Some Camps provide dry pit toilets at campsite.
Is there electricity?
No there's no electricity but some camps do have solar lights
Is there water available?
Only drinking water is available.
What can you expect on the triund trek?
One can see the beautiful nature, greenery around, sheep's and goats, people coming and going, cafes, maybe some wild animals. Not miss the stunning sunrise and sunset.

Triund Trek

The Triund Trek was very amazing, we had friendly guide who never left us alone, took care of our needs, and they even provided us with extra sleeping bags as it was too cold. The meals provided to us were too tasty. I am pretty sure that next time if I have any such plans I am going to choose Manu Adventures. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Triund Trek N camping

We went for Triund trek with Manu Adventures. Lovely arrangements. Helpful and friendly guide. The trek felt a bit exhausting at first, but we went in our own pace, and in the end it was totally worth the efforts. The view was breathtaking. And the camps in the snow was well built and our sleeping bags were clean. Is there anything more one can expect? Highly recommended.
