Summer set in

Once again the summers were back and snow in Himalayas were melting and it was time to go back to the mountains .. I feel connected to the mountains and the valley that surrounds the mountains. The greens, the blues, the hues all makes me  looking for the mountain trek or some one seeking spiritual enlightenment or a traveller looking for vibrant cities with tons of shopping facilities , good food and new places to visit some one like me who loves to travel .
We ( Sheetal Kalia, Poonam Jaswal, Shivani Mehta )spent 4 days at Bhagsu with frens and our kids the trip was planned by me starting from Una to Bhagsu and back. We stayed in Hotel Skylark which was good. We later went out and i introduced my frens to the local people there whom i knew for almost 2 decades now and I was surprised that they all mixed up well and we had gala time. Most of the time was spent near the water fall taking dips in cold water or just relaxing on one of the big boulders. Kids had fun in water and just didn't wanted to explore anything else. We also went walking to upper Bhagsu for eating the best pizza at pizzeria cafe and we really enjoyed it. The climb to Pizzeria was tough specially because we had small kids and one of them was as small as 2.5 years  but I kept encouraging my frens by saying its only 10 more mins and like this we finally reached the cafe in 2 hours but it was worth the climb.
We also wanted to do lot of other things like getting inked , hair breeding , a nice body massage and the list was endless but we realized 4 days were less with kids to do all these stuff so we promised we will be back again same time same place....

Melbourne to India ........

Hey I am back with some more peekaboo in my life. Being from Army back ground i did get to travel a lot and even when i was head over heels in love with Bhagsu I did explore other places like Manali, Mussorie, Rishikesh, Jaipur etc. But something in Bhagsu Dharamshalla kept pulling me back year after year . I just could not stop myself from going to Bhagsu with different frens all over the year. Then Finally 2006 I got Married and moved to Melbourne, Australia. After spending few months in Melbourne i had that urge to go back to India and felt something was missing in my life. I could not go back for 4 years so I went looking for my love for the mountains. I ended up in MT Bullar, the mountain was definitely beautiful and full of snow but it was nothing close to the mountains of Dharamshalla but I still stayed there for few days again back to Melbourne. After few months again I started feeling the void in my life and I again decided to go back to MT Bullar which was few hours drive from Melbourne the third time I went there I was expecting my first baby and everyone told me not to go there but my love for mountains could not stop me.
After few years in Melbourne i was back in India in 2014 Jan and June 2014 with my little boy who is not so little anymore we went to Bhagsu and I was so surprised
to see the new Bhagsu totally concrete firstly I did not recognize that its the same place that I had fallen in love with. I was so inspired by the mountains and the joy they had brought in my life. I loved the simplicity of this place but I was really disappointed.
I wished and longed for the same Bhagsu That I had been to but after spending few days there I had fallen in love with it again.
Its only the mountains which beckons me with that sort of painful magnetic pull to walk deeper and deeper into their beauty . They keep me continuously wanting to know more and more, see more and feel more.

Holidays in Dharamsala 1998

I was in first year of college in Delhi when I got a call from my sister to go in for a holiday trip for 7 days to Dharamshalla, Himachal Pradesh . Without giving it a second thought we packed our bags not knowing what to carry all we had in mind was holidays in Dharamshalla. A spontaneous yet less planned to Bhagsu was executed once we hit the road with nearly Rs 10000 for four of us when we reached ISBT to catch the bus. With some research and bag full of excitement we set out to explore the mystical land of Himachal where we had never been before. We stayed at our relatives home at Dharamshalla and traveled around in local buses, interacted with local people had local street food.
The desire to see the mountains from the beautiful moments of childhood was completed. The panoramic view of verdant valleys, gushing rivers, snow clad mountains left us spell bound.
There are some experiences in this life that can give us some insight into the joys of heaven. One in particular happened few years back when I first traveled to Bhagsu and since then I have been coming back again and again year after year. To be continued

Hey I am back again to tell you more about Bhagsu
The amazing views up there were irresistible which made me come back to Bhagsu year after year. The bonding with the local people became so strong that I felt Bhagsu was my second home. There was a time when I had made up mind to settle permanently there in Bhagsu but due to my job in Electronic media I could not afford to and more over I didn't get that opportunity to settle in Bhagsu.
I also came back and did a travel show in Dharamshalla for National Television . Every year it was different experience if one year it was staying at local area and learning new things like yoga and meditation or even playing the wooden instrument called Didgeridoo the other year it was Trance party at Shiva cafe. The party went on till wee hours and the experience was mind blowing something that we had never thought of or imagined. Then there were side trips to near by places like Dalai lama temple, waterfall, Chamuda devi , Kangra devi, Bir, Palampur. I think I almost covered all the tourist places in my second trip to Bhagsu and after that when ever I came back I stayed either in Bhagsu or Dharamkot also known as Little Israel. Dharamkot is called a little hippie village of Himalayas, this yoga village is famous and ideal for few days time off from the real world. The best about the place is its vibe which is a mix of some of magic, pure spiritual energy of Himalayas, happiness of people who live there, peace and serenity and the feeling of oneness with the nature. The sound of whistling birds, the whistling of air through deodar tree leaves, the distant smell of farm animals will awaken all your senses. It is a good spot for early morning yoga and meditation. The best thing about Dharamkot is you get cuisines from all parts of the world. So if you are foodie like me then Dharamkot is the place to stay.
